How do I train my cat to stop jumping on the high places?

A month ago, my grandfather came with his dog and right when my cat saw the dog, he pees on the floor and jumped on the counter and began to whistle. Now, even a month after the incident, he jumps on very high places in my house and walk over them, sometimes even sleeping on the stair railings that are 20 feet from the floor (my house has a height ceiling). The other day he jumped on the ledge of a window high, reached the end of it, and starting meowing because he didn't have nowhere else to go. I had to take over myself. Sometimes it reverses vases and art pieces. What can I do to prevent climbing around high places in my house?

Cats in general want to be high. Try to remember seeing pictures of wild animals Cheeta, puma, tiger sitting in a tree. This seems to be an instinct so please do not scold him or punish him for doing what comes naturally. My cats love to sit and sleep on top of my refrigerator. The height gives them a sense of security and it is unlikely that you can stop your cat from jumping in high places. I'm just surprised he has not discovered until now. The window sill probably taught him a lesson on edge of a particular window, but he will find other places to jump. You may want to put plants or something in the window sill to discourage, but make them big enough, he can see that there is something before it leaps. As for him hitting things, which is one things you need to get used to when you live with a cat. The best solution is to put them where he can not reverse. Need to do exactly as you would if you had a 2 year old child - child / proof of your chat place. Good luck.
