How much historical pottery?

My father found a potted history at work. He said he is about 2 FT. Tall and approximately 1 foot. round. [[the inner]] We want to know how much we can learn. Also, where can we go so they can observe. He says he is sure of its history because it does not look like all modern pots. And it is buried deep in the earth ... but it broke = IT [because he dug with a machine!

Some suggestions: Could it take for The Antiques Roadshow for a free evaluation by experts. They organize events assessment in many cities to check their touring schedule and plan to attend one. Could check ebay to see what similar ancient pottery is committed to. Could see if a historian or an appraiser will look at it ... the condition of the pottery will impact on value.
