Thrown Pottery

I am new to wheel thrown pottery. I have 2 nice cuts that came out of the time there are several ovens. The strange thing is ... every 15 minutes to an hour, they make such a sharp "ping" noise. I see no cracks or chips in the glaze. Is this normal? Why is this happening? When will it stop?
Is there a lot of moisture in the air where you are? The table could possibly be the expansion and contraction of the piece of pottery. The ping is the glaze separating from the dried clay. I wouldnt worry too much about it. If it begins to crack, then worry. It stops when the land was "settled" so to speak.
