What do you think the introduction of my book?

Venice The streets were alive with people. Lanterns hung from narrow streets and illuminated the dark, fireworks lit up the night sky, the shadows danced along the walls of the city of light has shone on the rivers reflection on the hulls of gondolas cruising along the shallow channels. The people were decorated with colorful clothing, they wore masks china richly browned around the ridges of the plate. It was the night of the Carnevale di Venezia 1500. What do you think? Is their something to add, I'm do more

I'm not sure I would say "street" as it is almost as small streets in Venice. If you try to make more than Is there a description of noise and smells of the place?
