Ideas to decorate the walls of our family room, and white images in black children, or art?

I want to update our walls the family room a bit, but can not decide if I should put pictures of our children, all more or artwork? If works of art, should it all be the same artist? In addition, discussion on the major iron barn stars, too many countries? Our large wall clock? The room is a kind of small ... I brown suede sofas, golden-tan paint on the walls. In particular, I have a space of four feet above the couch that sits between two major Windows - this could be space for a barn star, or a clock, or? In addition, we have a large wall with no couches here, just a leather chair side table / on the edge of wall. How can I make it look like something like it belongs, and not just float? My style is a kind of modern country, I love the look in Pottery Barn. Any ideas on how to make a room look together? You thank you!

I disagree with the little pictures are for children in the hallways. Why would you put pictures of your family that hid in a narrow space that is not out regularly? You can scan photos of your children and any family photos (if they are color copies) in a scanner and re-print with an old, old brown look (think it's called "Sepia"). Most of the CIP programs have this capability. Then, the color pictures would all match and would coordinate and your brown sofas. You did not mention or a lot of money on buying new things but for me a way to save money and obtain clean air is to reduce image an artist's book. I love Ansel Adams and my father came to receive his book by one of its employees a certain time (which was when I left mine). My father gave it to me and I just took some of the best photos in the book - in fact many ... 20 - and boxes around my apartment. Most were in black and white that fit well with my color scheme. And they look like, I went all the photos elsewhere. I have several framed sizes everywhere. Several apartments later and I still have most of the pictures on my walls. If you like many artists, I think you could do something sort of the same, but maybe find a book that shows works of art by various artists. No one will know if the pictures on your walls are themselves artists, nor would they care if they do not know. I think it would be nice to frame some artwork of your children too. It depends on how you really fix everything. You can use just a few children's picture artwork and changes the picture few months or more. Not sure if this is useful, but hope. Good luck.
