Art Deco Style

Where can I find information on the history of Art Deco?

I am doing a paper and a presentation on the Art Deco style and history. I need some references to consult for my information. Do you have any ideas other than Wikipedia?

I think the best way to start a discussion on Art Deco is in contrast to Art Nouveau. In its simplicity and modernity that was a conscious reaction against the Art Nouveau, however, in its elegance and appeal to a rich and elite of the world Indeed, it takes up and reinforces the impact of Art Nouveau. For examples, see the work of Tiffany glass and Lalique. A good start point to study this contrast is the essay by Richard Whitehouse, "Art Nouveau to Art Deco." [1] Of course, you may want to read a simple story general like that in the Wikipedia article on Art Deco, but if I were you, I would go directly to the International Exhibition des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes (1925), which after all gave the name (= Decorative Arts Art Deco) and international attention on the movement. You can read the article, magazine shows on the world. [2] Here is a brief excerpt that captures the characteristics of the movement identiftying "Art Nouveau had favored a kind of sinuous grace in its lines - Grace draped with vines, or languid movements of exotic dancers. Cubism of Braque, Gris and Picasso, but announced a new taste for sharp angularity. Translated into the decorative arts of furniture, clothing, and architecture, this abruptness has been smoothed by a sleekness of the line we now call streamlined. "Everything that clearly distinguishes the old ways of life has been rigorously excluded from the exhibition of 1925, Waldemar George wrote. The new style is aggressively modern, taking its lead from the forefront in the other arts in the expression of a new spirit of the age. "Finally, the references to many specific artists in chronological order (and the study real artists is finally the only way to go) you can to check Artcyclopedia [3]. Links to specific artists by providing an early and suggest several ways that you probably have time to go. I recommend especially René Lalique (Verrier), William Van Alen (architecture), Walter Teague (industrial design, such as cameras, cars, etc.), Paul Manship (sculptor), and Erte (painting). Good luck and enjoy!
