Why start dying roses / elbow after a day in a vase?

I never really understood why when you have a beautiful setting long-stemmed rose, after a day in a vase with water, they begin to bend the neck or seem like they are about to die. It sucks everything! (Urgh) Does that mean they were at their end when they were purchased, they were a bad lot to start with or some other reason? I really want to know to avoid this happening in the future. Anyone who knows the roses?

A rosebud / Flower on the plant receives a continuous supply of water from the soil through the stem / stalk. When it is cut, his lifeline is cut and the process of decay is in.
