clay can be annealed, or it will crack. The hole that requires sealing of the size of a cup of coffee.
If it was I mixed some Bondo (putty Automotive) and (slowly and carefully) to begin filling the hole. It would take some time and several applications because you would not get the hole while a single pass. Apply a little on the edge of beginning to fill the hole. Let it heal. Sand gently. Longer apply to Business small holes. Allow to harden, sand gently. Apply more to the hole smaller and smaller ... Get the picture?
