Does anyone know this Greek symbol?

I do not have that pot Greek pottery class, and I'm supposed to get a description of the design. It was a sun (not the Greek Vergina sun) with a face in the middle and a border with some circles. Then, top and bottom of the cirsle there were two cats wild, I want to say that they resemble Cougars but I'm not sure. Power someone tell me what this symbol was called and a little history on it? Thank you.

I do not know what part of Greece both of you have visited, but I was somewhere else! The part that I know not to about right face Smack dab in the sun any deity at all, my darlings. In addition to being fond of snakes, they had a lady by the name of the Sun Goddess Arinna, who was very famous among the Hittites, the people who went to conquer the right and left, top to bottom, where Turkey is today. They are probably people that the Greeks actually fought in the Trojan War who spoke Homer in the Iliad, but he had forgotten that about 800 BC, when he told his story, because the Hittites had long since disappeared by then. But before the sun goddess had Arinna peak, there was another goddess of Anatolia, and even before the Hittites (which made their debut around 1700 BC). This goddess was found earlier as a lady of very fat clay sitting on a bench Chatal Huyuk (the Turkish village where she was found, that is). And she had two big cats, each side of her mane lions less. It is very famous! So maybe the pot that you did and just did not know! But a Incarnation still further east, it Ishtar was sometimes (and the Hittites also known by that name) and as this lady, she was also called the Queen of Heaven. But it was not sun, or even the moon. It was the morning star (and star of the evening too, which is the same in reality, because it is the Venus and not a star at all).
