Pottery Cranberry

I have these cranberry / wine curtain panels of Pottery Barn are 60% silk% cotton, 40. They have become faded by the sun along the edges that hang in the window (relative to the outer edges that hang along the wall). I'm on a strict budget and do not want to replace them with signs down-o, but not willing to pay up to $ 30 per room for 4 panels. So I thought using dye fabric for recoloring. They are still in good condition and do not rot from the sun. Helpful tips and advice? I never dyed anything before - anything you can tell me your experiences or mistakes that I can keep in mind? The fabric that I know are Dritz Dylon dyes and Rit you can buy at Joann or other craft / fabric stores. In addition - this can be done in the washing machine? and if so, does it stain inside Washing Machine - How to clean your washing machine after - run an empty wash with bleach?
