Apply gold leaf without breaking into pieces?

How to apply gold leaf without it making too many folds? I need to apply gold leaf - how can I reach - what kind of adesive or even how do you cut without disintergrating? Many thank you D

. The surface is free of grease, etc., seized the area with brown powder .. whiting, talc, etc.. Dust off the excess and make sure it stays clean ... thinned oil-based gloss is as good as gilders size as an adhesive .. after application, check the tack when right .. happy to apply the leaf ... Looks like you are using loose leaf .. it should be shut down on the cushion gilders A ... make one with cardboard velvet ... I use to cut Blunt knife.you one can buy purpose made ones .. (if you want ...) pick up the leaves with a peak of squirrel hair. (what you've got to buy). rub your squirreltip tip of your head. (assuming you have hair), it gives you something that picks up static gold .. then applied to the surface ... You can buy transfer sheets that might be easier .. if you work on a flat surface but ..
